Our Australian Air Roasting Technique

After creating the perfect blends of individual coffee beans, maintaining the Australian flavour of our production, the beans are roasted using our unique Australian custom designed and built fluidised bed air roasting process. We use this process as we believe the gas fired drum roasters used by most of our competitors produce inconsistent roasting and can expose the delicate coffee beans to noxious gases.

Our fluidised electric air process roasts every bean consistently using clean heated air to blow the coffee beans around in a chamber (similar to producing popcorn).

There are two common coffee roasting methods, drum roasting and hot air roasting also known as fluidised bed roasting. The drum-type roasting method roasts the coffee beans as they tumble in a rotating drum that is typically heated by gas or wood. Alternatively our fluid-bed roasting method roasts the coffee beans by blowing them around with a current of hot air in a chamber, much like a giant hot-air popcorn popper. The hot air is generated by an electric element rather than by a gas or wood fired furnace.  As a result, our coffee beans are roasted consistently and smoothly producing a particularly clean flavour with no bitter aftertaste.

Our Freshness Guarantee

Another key point of differentiation for Kaldi Coffee is our freshness guarantee. At Kaldi we use the word fresh with confidence and pride. Unlike most imported and big brand names, we distribute your coffee immediately after roasting. Imported coffee and many large commercial roasters can take up to 12 months from roasting to delivery. Why drink old coffee when you can drink freshly roasted coffee.

Our freshness guarantee is that all beans not consumed within 14 days of roasting will be replaced with fresh ones.
